Notify Me When It Releases

I didn't have language for it back then. I just knew something in me was always working. Always scanning. Always adjusting. I called it responsibility. I called it maturity. It took me thirty years to learn that was a protector. Not a personality trait.

What This Book Is

This is a memoir about a man and his parts.

The vigilant one who never clocked out. The boy who made himself small when the room got loud. The adapter who could read any room and disappear into it. The one who pushed through. The one who hid. And the Self underneath all of it that was never lost, only clouded.

It starts in government housing on a street called Clay Circle in the South Carolina foothills. It moves through twenty years of cross-cultural work in San Francisco. Into marriage. Into fatherhood. Into the slow cracking open that led me to Internal Family Systems, and the even slower work of letting my parts rest.

This is not a therapy book. It's a story. My story. Written from inside it.

This Might Be for You If

This Might Be for You If

This Might Be for You If

  •  You grew up reading rooms and nobody called it survival
  • You've been the steady one and you're tired in a way rest doesn't fix
  • You carry faith and doubt in the same breath
  • You've done inner work and still feel like your story is too ordinary to matter
  • You know healing isn't a fix. It's a turning.

The Arc

This Might Be for You If

This Might Be for You If

From Clay Circle to Mount Horeb. From vigilance to gentleness. From a boy scanning every room to a man learning he was beloved before he was useful.

17 chapters. Childhood. Leaving home. Afghan refugees in the Bay Area. Meeting my wife at 16th and Mission BART. Building a life. The cracks. IFS. And what came after.

"You were not made wrong. You were made beloved. And healing is not the work of becoming someone new. It is the slow, grace-filled work of becoming more honestly the person you already are."
